abstract = "Spectral reflectance measurementes of 47 1m2 plots of the ground
layer of the Savana of Central Brazil were obtained using a Kimoto
PM-12A hand-held radiometer at 13 visible bands and at 4
near-infrared bands. The aboveground phytomass of each plot was
clipped, weighted, oven dried and weighted again. An amount of the
fresh phytomass (5-15) was separated from each sample in order to
estimate the proportion of the photosynthetically active
phytomass. The correlation and regression relationships between
the reflectance and phytomass data were examined. The results are:
a)fresh and dry total phytomass showed negative correlations for
all spectral bands, with highest r2 at = 575 nm; b)fresh and dry
green phytomass presented negative correlations for all visible
bands and positive for near infrared bands; c)fresh phytomass
(both total and green)shows higher r2 than dry phytomass; d)the
water contents of the total and of the green phytomass present
negative correlations with the spectral reflectance in the
blue-green spectrum and positive correlations in the
near-infrared; d)the bands that present the best positive and
negative correlations were combined to generate vegetation indices
for the estimation of the green phytomass and the water content.
The transformed normalized difference developed for the estimation
of the total water content was the index which presented the best
correlation (r = 0,64). Resumo Measurementes reflect{\^a}ncia
espectral de 47 parcelas de 1m2 a camada de solo da Savana do
Brasil Central foram obtidas utilizando um radi{\^o}metro Kimoto
PM-12A m{\~a}o-realizada em 13 bandas vis{\'{\i}}veis e em 4
bandas do infravermelho pr{\'o}ximo. A fitomassa da parte
a{\'e}rea de cada parcela foi cortada, ponderada, seco em estufa
e pesado novamente. Uma quantidade da fitomassa fresco (5-15) foi
separada a partir de cada amostra, a fim de estimar a
propor{\c{c}}{\~a}o da fitomassa fotossinteticamente activa. As
rela{\c{c}}{\~o}es de correla{\c{c}}{\~a}o e regress{\~a}o
entre os dados de reflect{\^a}ncia e fitomassa foram examinados.
Os resultados s{\~a}o: a) total de fitomassa fresca e seca
mostrou correla{\c{c}}{\~o}es negativas para todas as bandas
espectrais, com maior r2 = a 575 nm; b) fitomassa verde fresca e
seca apresentou correla{\c{c}}{\~o}es negativas para todas as
bandas vis{\'{\i}}veis e positivos para as bandas de
infravermelho pr{\'o}ximo; c) fitomassa fresca (tanto total e
verde) mostra r2 mais elevados do que fitomassa seca; d) o
conte{\'u}do de {\'a}gua do total e da fitomassa verde
apresentam correla{\c{c}}{\~o}es negativas com a
reflect{\^a}ncia espectral no espectro azul-verde e
correla{\c{c}}{\~o}es positivas no infravermelho pr{\'o}ximo;
d) as bandas que apresentam as melhores correla{\c{c}}{\~o}es
positivas e negativas foram combinados para gerar {\'{\i}}ndices
de vegeta{\c{c}}{\~a}o para a estimativa da fitomassa verde e do
teor de {\'a}gua. A diferen{\c{c}}a normalizada transformado
desenvolvido para a estimativa do teor total de {\'a}gua foi o
{\'{\i}}ndice que apresentou a melhor correla{\c{c}}{\~a}o (r
= 0,64).",
